Welcome to the Lari Language Archives.
The Lāri language (henceforth Lari, pronounced as /lα:ri/), also known as Larestani in some sources, is a Southwestern Iranian language which is spoken in Iran (three provinces of Fars, Hormozgan and Bushehr) and some other neighbouring Arabic-speaking countries such as United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kuwait by the Lari speakers in the diaspora. The Lari language family has numerous dialects which are mutually intelligible though there are some phonological and morphological differences among them. Some of the dialects include Evazi, Khonji, Gerashi, Lari, Aheli, Baskati, Rostagi and Dayyeri to name a few.
It’s estimated that between 150 to 200 thousand people speak the Lari language.
